Trauma Therapy
Ever wonder why certain things hit you harder than they "should"?
Maybe your heart races during conflict, even when no one's yelling. Or you find yourself over-apologizing for things that aren't your fault. Or you avoid closeness, not because you don't want it, but because something inside you says it's not safe.
If that sounds familiar, you're not alone. And no, you're not broken.
Many of us are walking around carrying pain we didn't know had a name. Trauma isn't just about dramatic or catastrophic events. It can also come from growing up in a home where love was inconsistent, where you had to manage adult emotions as a child, or where your needs were quietly dismissed.
Maybe no one "reached into you" to understand what you were feeling and what mattered to you.
As a result, our sense of self is stifled, and the trauma, too.
At Real Therapists Group, we help you make sense of your past, not so you can dwell in it, but so you can finally breathe in the present.
Heal the Past. Reconnect in the Present.

Our Integrative Approach to Trauma Healing
We utilize aspects of the Healing Our Core Issues model, and our therapy blends body, mind, and connection.
-
Mindfulness & Kind Awareness
We cultivate mindful presence so you can slow down, listen to your inner experience, and respond from a place of self-awareness rather than reactivity. -
Core Self-Work
Borrowing from the HOCI model, you'll reconnect with your authentic self. We guide you in "knowing," "loving," "protecting," and "caring" for the parts of yourself that need it most. -
Attachment & Relational Between-Therapist Dynamics
Healing relational trauma doesn't stop at insight—it heals in relationship. We offer consistent presence and attunement as a corrective emotional experience.
What happens in trauma-informed therapy?
First and foremost, we go at your pace.
You're in the driver's seat. We're here to walk alongside you, not to rush, push, or re-traumatize. Our work is about building safety, both in the therapy room and inside your own body.
Here's what the process might look like:
-
Understanding your story – We explore how your past shaped your present, with compassion, not blame. We also help you know your story with more empathy for yourself.
-
Building emotional safety – We help you notice your internal responses without getting overwhelmed by them. You begin to form a compassionate relationship with the parts of you that get triggered.
-
Identifying patterns – You'll start to see the connections between your experiences and your coping habits – adaptations you learned growing up. We often say, "They were adaptive then, but maladaptive now."
-
Practicing new tools – Together, we'll find skills that help you self-regulate, set boundaries, and relate compassionately to yourself and others – from the wise adult part of you.
Signs you may be carrying unhealed trauma
You might notice:
-
You feel anxious or "on edge" most of the time, even when life is calm.
-
You avoid emotional conversations because they feel unsafe.
-
You're hyper-independent—you'd rather do it all yourself than risk disappointment.
-
You struggle to trust others or open up, even when you want to.
-
You don't remember much of your childhood, or it all feels blurry.
-
You often feel "too much" or "not enough."
These aren't personal flaws. They're symptoms of a nervous system that had to adapt quickly and often.

You're Allowed to Want More
You don't have to be in crisis to seek therapy. Wanting a deeper, more peaceful life is reason enough.
Maybe you've already done a lot of "work." Perhaps you're new to this. Either way, if something inside you is asking, Could it be different?—That's your signal.
At Real Therapists Group, we meet you where you are. We offer warmth, respect, and a deep belief in your capacity to heal. No shame. No judgment. Just curiosity, courage, and real connection.
We're here when you're ready.
